U.K. Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has been discharged from the hospital where he has battled coronavirus for nearly a week.
Johnson tested positive for coronavirus more than two weeks ago, and spent the first 10 days of his illness self-isolating in Downing Street. However, his symptoms persisted and he was admitted to hospital last Sunday.
In a video message on his Twitter handle released after he left the hospital, Johnson said, “it is hard to find words to express my debt to the NHS for saving my life.
“I thank you because so many millions and millions of people across this country have been doing the right thing, millions going through the hardship of self-isolation faithfully, patiently, and with thought and care for others as well as themselves,” he said.
“On the advice of his medical team, the PM will not be immediately returning to work. He wishes to thank everybody at St Thomas’ for the brilliant care he has received,” a spokesperson said.
