Kaduna State Commissioner for Health, Dr Amina Mohammed-Baloni, said on Thursday that 16 almajiri kids deported from Kano State have tested positive for coronavirus.
The Kano State Government had sent many almajiris back to their home states including Kaduna as part of measures to curb the spread of Coronavirus.
Baloni in a statement on Thursday said their test results returned positive from the samples of 40 people, who took the test.
“The state government had expressed fear about the danger of infection from neighbouring states, and the role of interstate travel in facilitating the spread of COVID -19 across state lines.
“As part of the implementation of the preventive measures, our health officials are monitoring suspected COVID -19 cases, believed to have sneaked into the state in spite of the ban on interstate travels.” She said.
