The wife of Derek Chauvin, the Minneapolis police officer, who is charged with murder in the death of George Floyd, has filed for divorce, according to her attorneys, ABC News reports.
“She is devastated by Mr. Floyd’s death,” a statement on behalf of Kellie Chauvin and her family read. “Her utmost sympathy lies with his family, his loved ones and with everyone who is grieving.”
“She has filed for dissolution of her marriage, ” the letter continued.
Chauvin who was captured on video pinning his knee into Floyd’s neck for several minutes till Floyd died was arrested and charged on friday with third-degree murder and manslaughter.
Protests for Floyd’s death have turned chaotic and violent in cities like Minneapolis, New York, Atlanta and several others.
